Indecision making

Time for me to sound like a broken record again! I’m still in the character-selection stage, but after Monday’s session, I feel like I have some rather more sober feelings on the matter. As expected, Adon proved unwieldy outside of his fairly easy to grasp pokes, while Cody proved woefully incapable of mounting any sort of sustained defence in my hands. I spent the weekend training mostly these two, so, having seen how a couple days with the characters of my own choosing faired, I decided to spend the following days leading up to our second session of the week on Thursday playing with Guile, whom I was once again recommended to try out. Choose and Pick the Best One

Or not, as the case may be! One of the more well appreciated struggles the absolute beginner scrub faces is picking a character. A multi-dimensional issue that’s been addressed countless times before, most effectively in Kelter Skelter’s excellent thread here: . Since it’s one I’m currently grappling with, I’ll jot down my thoughts on the issue here for posterity.

Demotivational Demons

Something that plagues any freshblood scrub is mental blocks – not just the regular and well-understood sort, such as not wanting to seem ‘cheap’ by ‘abusing’ a tactic that works over and over against an opponent (helpful as that would obviously be in pointing out that person’s weaknesses to them), or unwillingness to sit on a life advantage as the clock ticks away to a timeout win, but also the endless capacity we have to invent excuses not to play.
